Another proud achievement from Gazi University’s academics. In the “World’s Most Influential Scientists” list, prepared by Stanford University, 37 scientists from our university were included in the “recent year” list, while 34 scientists made it into the “career-long” list.
With contributions from Stanford University scientist Prof. John P. A. Ioannidis, the list of the most-cited academics worldwide was published in September 2024 on the Elsevier database, in two formats: “career-long” and “single recent year.” Scientists were classified into 22 scientific fields and 174 subfields according to the standard Science-Metrix classification. Percentile rankings specific to each field and subfield were created for all scientists with at least five published articles. Scopus data provided by Elsevier through ICSR Lab (https://www.elsevier.com/icsr/icsrlab) was used in this study.
Career-long data is updated up to the end of 2023, while the single recent year data pertains to citations received during the 2023 calendar year. Selection is based on the c-score (including and excluding self-citations) or the top 100,000 scientists ranked within the top 2% in their subfield.
For Türkiye, 1,518 researchers qualified for the “recent year” list, while 1,172 researchers were included in the “career-long” list.
From Gazi University, 37 scientists were ranked in the “recent year” list, and 34 in the “career-long” list. According to the 2023 ranking, 5 new scientists were included in the “recent year” list and 2 new scientists in the “career-long” list.
We congratulate the scientists from our university who achieved this distinction and wish them continued success.
