24th of November Teachers' Day Celebrated at Our University

Gazi Education Faculty, which guided Turkey's future with thousands of successful teachers, celebrated "24th of November Teachers' Day" with a panel discussion. The panel titled “Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow of Teacher Training” held at Gazi Concert Hall was broadcast live on our university's social media accounts. Minister of National Education Prof. Dr. Ziya Selçuk, Deputy Minister of National Education Prof. Dr. Mustafa Safran, and Rector of our University Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız, President of State Archives Presidency Prof. Dr. Uğur Ünal, General Director of the Ministry of National Education Teacher Training and Development Assoc. Dr. Adnan Boyacı and guests attended.

The ceremony started with a moment of silence and the performance of the National Anthem and continued with the music concert given by Gazi Faculty of Education, Department of Music Education Instructors Dr. Bilgehan Sonsel, Dr. Selin Özdemir, Dr. Serin Özparlak.

Making the opening speech of the program, Minister of National Education Prof. Dr. Ziya Selçuk said, "We are celebrating this meaningful day in one of the oldest educational institutions of our country." Ziya Selçuk said that he served with great honor in Gazi Faculty of Education for many years and said, “Human beings are a sainted creature and educators have a job with people. For this reason, it is a great and sacred duty for a teacher to guide. ”

Underlining that it is a separate responsibility to train teachers who train students, Minister Ziya Selçuk continued as follows: “It is the duty of all of us to further develop the teaching profession and to raise its reputation further. Gazi University was an institution that our head teacher Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was particularly interested in. That is why; this situation has been emphasized since the first years of the Republic. "

Emphasizing that the Ministry of National Education attaches great importance to cooperation with education faculties, Prof. Dr. Ziya Selçuk said, "We, as the Ministry of National Education, are determined to support every activity that will improve the quality of education." Emphasizing that education is a matter of reconciliation; Selçuk ended his speech as follows: “We are all sailing in the same ship. If we act together, we can achieve this consensus. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all of my colleagues on the teachers' day. "

Speaking at the opening, our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız said, “In these days, when we realize the 100th anniversary of the National Struggle period, the primary goal of our newly established state with the declaration of the Republic has undoubtedly been to initiate studies in the field of education in the whole country. One of the first steps in this process was taken here in 1926. At that time, under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, one of the first teacher schools of the Republic, the "Secondary Teacher Training School and Education Institute" was established here.

Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız continued his speech as follows: “Our university and our faculty, which have taken its name from Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's 'Gazi' title, are committed to the fundamental values ​​of the Republic, with the excitement of the first day of its establishment, that renews itself, develops itself on the basis of learning, teaching and human development, is open to innovations, who can be at peace with himself; to train teachers, experts and academicians.”

Our Rector Musa Yıldız, who informed that Gazi Faculty of Education is 94 years old, completed his speech as follows: “We took the necessary steps regarding the establishment of our ‘Gazi University Dynamic Education Policies Research and Application Center, which will be supported by the works of our faculty members. We will try to present our studies in order to contribute to the education policies of our country by completing the procedure regarding its opening process soon. On this occasion, I congratulate all of our teachers on the teachers' day.”

Following the opening speeches, the panel titled "Teacher Training Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" moderated by Vice Minister of National Education Prof. Dr. Mustafa Safran was launched. Başkent University Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Servet Özdemir and General Director of Teacher Training and Development Ministry of National Education Assoc. Dr. Adnan Boyacı made a presentation. Following the panel, faculty members who received professorship titles were given a gown dressing ceremony and retired faculty members were presented with plaques. The program ended with a traditional apricot pie treat which occurred each year.
